The very first thing you need to do is to get listed on Google My Business and/or Bing Places for Business.

The process is the same for both and it is easy and free to do, and it means that your online business will be listed in relevant searches and displayed on Google Maps.

If you delve into the services offered by Google My Business you will find a whole host of other free promotional activities available, including setting up a website, uploading photos, and publishing news stories.

#2: Look to the big socials

Without a doubt, social media as a marketing channel has evolved from a platform solely for connected with friends and family. It  is now an opportunity to effectively reach your target audience, regardless of their location.

Facebook is the biggest of all and it pays to have a business page posting regular and relevant information about your product and/or service. Join business-related groups for further opportunities to promote your business free of charge. You will need to invest in your domain name and a hosting package, which are essential, but affordable. For Australian providers consider GoDaddy or Crazy Domains.

Websites are designed to house a range of information and images about your product. If you’re unsure on the basics, a quick Google search will tell you what to include in your site map.

When it comes to promoting your product on your website you can do this a number of ways, but by far the easiest and most popular way is to create a blog.

Once you write a blog post make sure you promote it through your social channels, email it to your list, or add it to your advertising campaigns to make sure that you generate traffic. Otherwise, what’s the point?
