When you start out as a musician, it’s well known that things can be hard.
That’s where people like QMusic come in.
They’re currently taking applications for the Billy Thorpe Scholarship.
The 10K prize provides the opportunity to record with an established producer and to meet with a representative from Chugg Entertainment.

What is an emerging musician?
An emerging musician is someone who is in the development stage of their music career. They may not have yet achieved national/international sales or exposure or a record label deal but can be seen to be working towards these goals. An emerging musician is also someone who can demonstrate that they are committed to developing their instrumental/vocal technique, songwriting and performance skills. There is no maximum age but older applicants would need to clearly demonstrate their early career phase status.
- be at least 18 years of age on January 1 2015
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- be residing in Queensland
- have written a minimum of four original songs
- have an ABN or nominate an accountable auspice body
- have satisfied the reporting requirements of any previous Arts Queensland grants.
Structured funding of $10 000.
Opening Date: 12 October 2015.
Closing Date: 27 November 2015.
Announcement of winner: March 2016.
