The Queensland Music Awards submissions are open and on the hunt for the best and brightest songwriters for the ceremony, as well as the $10,000 Arts Queensland-backed Billy Thorpe Scholarship
The awards provide Queensland-based musicians an opportunity to have their music heard by a panel of industry veterans and the public
Published and unpublished songwriters from across the state are encouraged and invited to submit their entries any time between now and midnight on Sunday 6 December.
In 2016, BOQ will sponsor cash prizes for a set of new People’s Choice Awards – Most Promising Male Songwriter ($1000), Female Songwriter ($1000) and Songwriting Team ($2000). These prizes will provide encouragement and support to early career songwriters, in recognition of their exceptional potential.
The 2016 Awards ceremony will take place at Brisbane Powerhouse on Monday 21 March 2016 – tickets will be available to the general public early next year.

The Billy Thorpe Scholarship, funded by Arts Queensland. This scholarship provides $10,000 for an emerging artist to record with an established producer, and receive career-planning advice from a Chugg Entertainment representative. Applicants can apply online through QMusic’s website. The winner will be announced at the 2016 Queensland Music Awards.
