Employers Of Choice
WGEA has today announced an increase in the number of organisations awarded the WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality Citation (EOCGE), with 90 organisations nationwide appearing on this year’s list.
The EOCGE citation recognises employer commitment and best practice in promoting gender equality in Australian workplaces. Workplace trends this year include measurement and disclosure of gender pay gaps, a more strategic approach to flexibility and enhanced caring provisions for men, including paid parental leave.
WGEA Director, Libby Lyons, says the initiatives demonstrate this year’s EOCGE recipients are taking a more sophisticated and whole-of-organisation approach to supporting women and men’s equal participation at all levels of the workplace.
“Employers increasingly understand and value the benefits of having a diverse workforce for organisational culture and business performance,” said Ms Lyons.
2015 EOCGE citation holders range from small professional services firms to very large organisations including universities and banks.
Ms Lyons says the spread of industries and organisational size in this year’s list of citation holders is very encouraging and highlights growing awareness of the value of taking a strategic and systematic approach to gender equality.
“It is especially encouraging to see more organisations look for ways to actively support women and men balance caring responsibilities while also pursuing their careers,” said Ms Lyons.
